While he was delighting Congolese rumba music lovers on the stage of La Défense Arena on Saturday, November 25, Congolese singer Fally Ipupa received a visit from burglars, according to The Parisian. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, thieves broke into his apartment and stole a luxury Audemars Piguet brand watch, estimated “around 50 000 euros.
The investigation was entrusted to the Nanterre judicial police, specifies The Parisian. According to the daily, the police were alerted by a neighbor “who saw two men leave the apartment through a window. They had first broken it to break into the accommodation, before fleeing in a car.”
A big party on stage
On social networks, “The Eagle”, as the singer is nicknamed, did not mention the incident and only thanked his fans, a few hours after a performance considered historic in a packed room. The latter benefited from an impressive police force.
Fally Ipupa’s last concert, also very supervised, gave rise to major clashes in February 2020 around the AccorHotels Arena (Bercy) where the singer was performing. This date ended a decade during which concerts by Congolese artists had been banned in Europe because, each time, they caused disturbances to public order for political reasons.
On stage, Fally Ipupa notably invited Aya Nakamura, Dadju and the Senegalese star Youssou N’Dour. In a few years, the Congolese singer and dancer has become one of the eminent ambassadors of Congolese rumba, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Among the spectators of his concert at La Défense, was the model Didi-Stone, the daughter of Koffi Olomidé, another big name in Congolese music, alongside whom Fally Ipupa made his debut in music. Their relationship has since deteriorated.
