Producers of sunflower oil, which is imported mainly from Ukraine, are worried about their sector, as the war continues on Thursday March 17.

At 22th day of the war in Ukraine, Thursday, March 17, the sunflower oil industry is at a standstill, while the country represents more than half of world exports. At the supermarket, customers are resigned. Fabien Razac, marketing director Lesieur is not worried about the sector of his brand, which is 100% French, but about his professional customers. “We have major customers, such as private labels, who imported 100% of their oil from Ukraine”, he explains. Industrialists and home restaurateurs also find themselves in the same situation.

An assured stock of oil for 2022

The company, which increased its stocks from the start of the conflict, can still deliver its oil until the end of 2022. “In 2023, it is still very likely that we will not be able to provide the same quantities of sunflower oil”, explains Fabien Razac, Lesieur Marketing Director. The company diversifies with rapeseed or corn oils.
