Conflict between gangs in eastern Quebec | Dave Turmel’s right-hand man arrested in Portugal

(Quebec) The right-hand man of alleged trafficker Dave Turmel was arrested Thursday in Portugal, where he had apparently taken refuge with his boss to flee the violent conflict against the Hells Angels.

The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) announced Friday morning that Roobens Denis “was arrested Thursday in [sa] requested by the police authorities of Portugal. The 31-year-old man had been wanted for months for drug trafficking and drug trafficking conspiracy. Portuguese police found him in a hotel in Lisbon.

The SPVQ specifies that “during the week, new information allowed a precise location of Roobens Denis” in this hotel in the Portuguese capital. Where did this new information come from? Was Denis betrayed by one of the many people arrested this week as part of a major police raid against the Turmel gang? The police did not specify.

The police present him in a press release as Turmel’s “trusted man”, which matches information from several sources.

“As of today, extradition steps will be taken,” said the police. If the approach is accepted, the SPVQ will be responsible for the extradition procedure in order to bring Roobens Denis back to Canada so that he can appear in court. »

Runaway in Europe

Roobens Denis had been on the run since last July. On July 26, Quebec police arrested seven people for drug trafficking and threats. But the SPVQ was unable to get its hands on Roobens Denis and his alleged boss, Dave Turmel. Both have since been wanted with arrest warrants in their names.

According to sources, Turmel and Denis had in fact taken refuge in Europe. The Blood Family Mafia (BFM) gang has been at war with bikers for months for control of the cocaine trade in eastern Quebec.

In a video viewed by The Presswe can see bikers installing a “puck” – a GPS beacon – under a car believed to be Turmel’s, parked in front of a nude dancers’ bar on the South Shore in the Quebec City region.

The scene was captured by a security camera and the tape recovered by Turmel’s men. Believing there was a price on his head, Turmel left the country and is believed to be in Europe.

The arrest of Roobens Denis suggests that Dave Turmel is indeed in Europe, and that his run continues.

The Sûreté du Québec and the SPVQ announced Thursday that they had arrested 32 suspects in a major operation. Most of those arrested are suspected of being affiliated with the BFM. According to the police, the gang carried out several bloody attacks against criminal bikers.
