The riots linked to the death of Nahel, killed on Tuesday June 27 during a police check, and the mobilization of the police have led since Friday June 30 to several cancellations of events. That of the Celine men’s fashion show, scheduled for the evening of Sunday July 2 in Paris, is the latest. The designer Hedi Slimane first mentioned, on Saturday July 1, in his short text on Instagram the “security” And “the uncertain evolution of these very serious disorders“.

Hedi Slimane, considered one of the most influential designers in men’s fashion, had decided to present his collections outside the official calendar. “A fashion show in Paris, while France and its capital are thus (bereaved) and bruised, seems, from my point of view alone, inconsiderate and totally out of place”, he added in his message.

The funeral of Nahel, 17, took place on Saturday July 1 at midday, at the Nanterre funeral home (Hauts-de-Seine). A ceremony then took place in the afternoon at the Ibn Badis mosque in the town, before the burial in the Mont Valérien cemetery.

A series of cancellations

So far, the biggest cancellation of a cultural event has been that of the two concerts by megastar Mylène Farmer, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Stade de France. The announcement was made Friday, June 30 in the middle of the afternoon by the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis, a few hours before the first show.

In addition, the last evening of the Fnac Live festival in Paris on Friday, certain concerts of the Barrière Enghien Jazz Festival on Saturday and Sunday have been canceled. Just like the Hauts de Garonne Festival in Floirac and Lormont (Gironde) scheduled for Friday and Saturday or even the first edition of the Yardland music festival which was to be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Parc de Choisy (Val-de-Marne). The decision was taken by the prefecture.
