Morgane Rivoal, a 13-year-old girl from Pabu, has been missing since November 25 after she left for school but never arrived. Despite extensive search efforts and community involvement, there has been no trace of her. Investigators are treating her disappearance as concerning, with initial speculation about her possibly running away. Morgane’s family and friends are growing increasingly anxious as the search continues, and authorities are determined to explore every lead in their quest to find her.
The case of Morgane Rivoal, a 13-year-old girl from Pabu in Côtes-d’Armor, has gained significant attention over the past few days. Last Monday, she left her home to head to school, but unfortunately, she never made it to class.
A few hours after her absence was noted, her family reported the situation to the local authorities. An urgent call for witnesses was swiftly issued and widely shared, while extensive search efforts commenced in hopes of locating the young girl. However, five days on, there has been no sign of Morgane, leaving her family and friends deeply worried.
Disappearance Reported on November 25
Aurore Rivoal, Morgane’s mother, alerted the gendarmerie in Guingamp to her daughter’s disappearance on Monday morning at 11:40 AM. This action came after the school informed her around 9:30 AM that Morgane had not shown up at Albert Camus college in Grâces.
Morgane left home that morning around 7:15 AM, typically taking the bus to her school situated over five kilometers away from Pabu. Her parents, preoccupied with their routines, did not notice her departure but confirmed that she had bid them farewell as usual.
Aurore had expected to see Morgane return home that evening, as was customary after school. “We had a parents-teachers meeting, so I reminded her not to forget her snack,” her mother recalled. Morgane responded, “No problem, kisses, see you tonight.” Sadly, the young girl did not come back.
Her parents noted that Morgane left without any money, bank cards, or personal belongings.
Investigation and Search Operations
Following the report of her disappearance, an investigation was initiated, classified as a worrying disappearance. The case was handed over to the research brigade of the Guingamp gendarmerie, supported by additional gendarmes and military units from the Rennes research section. Initial reports suggested a possible runaway situation, but concern is mounting as time passes without any news.
Extensive human and technical resources have been deployed by the gendarmerie. Two specially trained dogs were utilized to trace Morgane’s scent, following it from her home to the Castel Pic area in Guingamp, where they ultimately lost the trail. Nautical units, including divers, scoured the Le Trieux river and nearby waterways, while aerial support from a helicopter aided the search.
Community Participation in Search Efforts
The search continued throughout the week, with numerous organized hunts that saw significant community participation. On Friday, a large group of volunteers, estimated between 700 and 800 people, joined Morgane’s parents in searching the areas around Guingamp, Pabu, and Pommerit-le-Vicomte. “Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone who came out,” Morgane’s father said.
In an emotional appeal, Aurore expressed her desperation for her daughter’s return, urging her to “come back to us” as the community rallied together in support.
Since the ordeal began, Aurore has been actively reaching out to Morgane through social media, hoping for her safe return.
Investigative Developments
As part of the investigation, searches were also conducted at the family home and among Morgane’s acquaintances, though these efforts yielded no results. Witnesses revealed that a disagreement had occurred over the weekend regarding Morgane’s use of social media, leading to a heated discussion between her and her parents, during which her father broke her phone.
On the day before her disappearance, Morgane was at home with her younger siblings while her father was at work.
A Teenager with No History of Running Away
Morgane’s family insists she has never run away before, describing a harmonious household, a sentiment echoed by her paternal grandparents. According to a friend, Morgane had hinted on social media that she would not be attending school on Monday.
Ongoing Commitment by Authorities
The gendarmerie has pledged to exhaust all avenues in their search for Morgane. The public prosecutor emphasized their commitment to finding the missing girl, assuring that no potential leads will be overlooked.
Morgane’s father expressed his concerns, stating, “It’s been too long, and the cold is setting in. She needs to come home now.” He also mentioned that there would be a shift in search strategy, with the gendarmes conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area.
