Concarneau and its walled town

here medieval fortifications alongside the cornice where seaside architecture flirts with the ocean. Its ville-close, around which the city has developed, is one of the most visited sites in Brittany: more than one and a half million tourists each year ! It is only 380 meters long and about 100 meters wide. To access it, two options: the pedestrian crossing of rue Vauban which starts from rue Jean Jaurès or the passage ferry ! Just 5 min crossing but like a feeling of going on an adventure.

Between the middle of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century, the Walled City became a source of inspiration for the painters of the “Concarneau group”.
