Druide informatique was celebrating its 25th anniversary and, for the occasion, the Quebec company yesterday launched a new version of its popular Antidote software.
For my writing, I use Antidote constantly and it is definitely one of the best software investments for my job. Soon after it went live, version 11 was already purchased and installed on my computer.
Without detailing each of the 100 improvements, the interface of the very useful bilingual corrector is more airy and becomes more user-friendly. It is even possible to customize the toolbar with a simple drag and drop.
The proofreader integrates with Microsoft and Apple’s Office office suites, text editors, major web browsers, publishing and presentation software, email software, spreadsheets, and more. Since 2015, he can correct a text or a message written in both languages.

The corrector interface
“Legal texts, missing words and forgotten commas, the corrector is inaugurating a new neural correction engine which adds to the natural intelligence of its infolinguists, for more reliable and varied diagnoses”, we can read on the news page.
Gifted with artificial intelligence
Druide sought the expertise of Professor Yoshua Bengio, recognized worldwide for his work in artificial intelligence. Thus, for research in analysis of your texts, Antidote 11 is the first edition to use deep learning processing for which the correction engine detects missing words and commas and suggests inserting them where needed.
“A very promising technology according to Druide which announces reorganizations of sentences and more advanced reformulation proposals”, according to Éric Brunelle, president of Druide informatique and principal designer of Antidote.
Dictionaries
Constantly updated, the dictionary is enriched with more than 3000 French words (e.g .: eco-anxiety) and 5,000 others in English. And for each of these, we find definitions, synonyms, conjugations and their equivalents in English or French.
Another novelty is the rhyming dictionary for those who like this linguistic form.
Antidote 11 or Antidote +
The software is compatible with macOS, Windows and Linux systems. Find for each the configurations and integrations supported by Antidote 11.
Druide offers two types of access to its products, either Antidote 11 for a user with a computer or Antidote + which includes an annual subscription to the three applications of the range, namely Antidote 11, Antidote Web and Antidote Mobile (only for iPhone and iPad).
To get it, Druide offers the purchase and two types of subscription as can be seen here.

Upgrades
In my case, I upgraded from Antidote 10 to the full Antidote + Personal upgrade (all three apps) for $ 45 or $ 51.74 including tax, for a one-year subscription.
For software used more than once an hour, it’s hard to do without it.
