Complaint for harassment against a teacher at Saint-Bernard College in Bayonne

Louise’s parents do not want to stop there. No way. Jean-Philippe and Clarisse filed a complaint, on behalf of their 14-year-old daughter, for acts of “harassment by repeated remarks or behaviors having as their object or effect a deterioration of their living conditions, resulting in an alteration of their physical or mental health”. This complaint before the Bayonne court, against a 25-year-old mathematics teacher from La Salle Saint-Bernard college in Bayonne, is a new episode in a soap opera that is shaking the private establishment. The facts in question took place between December 2021 and March 2022.

Doubt sets in

Louisa remains traumatized by this affair. Initially, the young girl, an excellent student, has complete confidence in her mathematics teacher. A 25-year-old teacher, attentive to the classes for which he is responsible. Gradually, the situation will deteriorate. Nothing overtly sexual in the teacher’s behavior, but his remarks will disturb the young girl, who will confide in her parents.

“He’s not supposed to act like that.” – Louise, middle school student

Quickly, doubt sets in, says the teenager. “This teacher, he was so close to me that it made me so uncomfortable. And the fact of sending me emails at 10 p.m. in the evening to wish me my birthday, the fact of approaching two centimeters of my face in class, I don’t find that normal. It’s not logical”. The teacher sends nocturnal emails to the young girl, via the internal “Ecole Directe” network, in particular to wish her a happy birthday, or to ask her to confide in him.

Louise and Charlotte are excluded from the establishment

The father of the schoolgirl does not support this situation. He asks for a meeting with the math teacher. But the interview goes badly. The furious dad grabs the teacher by the collar, in a school room. For this act of violence, Jean-Philippe will be summoned to the Bayonne police station and punished with a simple “reminder to the law”.

Except that the case goes further. The establishment decided to exclude Louise from the college, as well as her ten-year-old little sister, Charlotte, educated in the La Salle Saint-Bernard school in CM2 class. “The pact of trust has been broken”, we explain on the side of the management of the private establishment under contract with the State. The parents and their lawyer, Me Antoine Tugas, challenged this decision before the Bayonne summary court in early April.

Justice must render its decision next April 19. No internal proceedings have been initiated against the professor.
