(Paris) Cannes-winning Spanish transgender actress Karla Sofia Gascón filed a complaint on Wednesday for “sexist outrage” after a tweet from Marion Maréchal, the head of the European list for the far-right Reconquête! party, AFP learned with his lawyer.
This complaint, addressed to the Paris prosecutor’s office, comes two days after that filed by six associations defending LGBT+ rights for “transphobic insult” and targeting the same comments.

“We must put an end to this kind of comments,” reacted Karla Sofia Gascón, quoted in a press release from her lawyer sent to AFP.
The complaint against X was filed for “sexist outrage due to his gender identity”.
According to M.e Etienne Deshoulières, the actress’s lawyer, “only the person targeted by the remarks can act on this basis”.
“It was therefore necessary for Karla Sofia Gascón to act alongside LGBT associations “to have Marion Maréchal convicted of sexist outrage due to gender identity,” he added in the press release.
