(New York) Two American fans of Madonna have filed a complaint against the megastar in civil court in New York, accusing her of “casualness” for her chronic lateness to her concerts.
In a complaint dated Wednesday and consulted by AFP on Friday, Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden sue the world queen of pop, the concert giant Live Nation and the Brooklyn stadium Barclays Center by seeking financial compensation for delays in two hours at his shows last December.
Madonna, 65, resumed her tour in Europe and then North America in the fall Celebration Tour after being hospitalized in intensive care for a bacterial infection in June 2023.
“The three evenings of concerts at the Barclays Center were supposed to start at 8:30 p.m., but Madonna did not arrive on stage before 10:30 p.m. and the spectators left the room after 1 a.m.,” denounce the two plaintiffs.
“Madonna demonstrated difficulty and a certain lack of attitude in being on time or completing her shows […] with the consequence of waiting hours for the concerts to start […] and being stuck in the middle of the night” to get home, the complaint further criticizes.
According to this 18-page court document filed in the federal court in the New York jurisdiction of Brooklyn, “Madonna has a long history of being late to her concerts, sometimes by several hours.”
None of the parties targeted by the complaint responded to AFP’s requests.
Louise Ciccone, her real name, was born in August 1958 in Michigan to parents of Italian and French-speaking Canadian origins.
