On February 3, Pierre Garnier won the eleventh season of Star Academy after three months of fierce competition. During the final which pitted him against Julien, the young 21-year-old from Normandy managed to stand out by performing a song that he even wrote and named for him. “Those we were”. The day after his victory, this song was released in stores, becoming the young man’s first single.
By winning the Star Academy, Pierre won a check for €100,000 and a contract with Sony Music to release his first album. In an interview given to the Belgian media Ciné Télé Revue, the young talent revealed what he intends to do with his winnings, a sum which constitutes an advance which must be used to produce his album, from the recording of the album to the production of the clips. “I think that this money will largely be dedicated to purchasing a lot of equipment to be able to work better, guitars, for example. I make a lot of music, so it’s always good to have instruments available, especially for the album that follows.” he then declared.
