Some companies have already adopted good energy habits. For example, turning the heat down one degree may melt the bill by 7%, which is both economical and environmentally friendly.
La Défense, Europe’s leading business district, is above all a place of business. For six months, the trend has been towards energy savings. Some large groups have taken the lead. One of the companies is thus hunting down waste with presence sensors and air conditioning shutdown at 6 p.m. To avoid heating empty spaces, employees are encouraged to work together. With these small gestures, the company has already achieved 20% energy savings in one year.
This winter, it will probably be necessary to provide even more in addition. “Where we used to have 21 degrees in winter, we will drop 20 degrees (…) Going from 21 to 20 means 7% energy savings”explains Astrid WeillDeputy CEO of Groupama Immobilier. This represents approximately 10,000 euros in savings per year. Employees even receive a bonus for good energy results.
