Comorian handball players on the move to Reunion fled into the wild

A delegation of 57 people went to Reunion on June 29 for a handball tournament. 54 handball players preferred to stay on Bourbon Island.

54 handball players preferred to stay on Reunion Island. Only two club leaders and a referee made the return trip to Moroni. The information revealed on July 18 by our colleagues from the Gazette des Comores had the effect of a bomb.

The athletes did not return to the Comoros despite the commitments made. This is obviously likely to compromise the issuance of visas in the context of future sports competitions,

reacted strongly the French Embassy.

The athletes traveled to Bourbon Island as part of the Indian Ocean Handball Champions Cup. They arrived at Roland Garros airport on June 29. Their visa expired on July 12.

Some of the players did not participate in the competition and would have taken to their heels as soon as they got off the plane.

However, the athletes had committed by mail to return to Moroni at the end of the tournament. The Minister of Sports Djaafar Salim Allaoui who would have weighed in with all his weight for the handball players to obtain the visa did not respond to our messages or our calls. Djaanfar Salim Allaoui would have apologized to the French ambassador, Sylvain Riquier for non-respect of the moral commitment contract, according to our colleagues from RTL Réunion. A case that the public authorities would have done well.
