(Birmingham) Canada added three medals to its total at the Commonwealth Games on Friday thanks to the brilliance of its wrestlers.

Ana Gondinez-Gonzalez of Surrey, BC, and Toronto’s Lachlan McNeil won silver medals in the freestyle. Hannah Taylor of Prince Edward Island won a bronze medal, also in the freestyle.
Godinez-Gonzalez lost a 4-4 decision to India’s Sakshi Malik in the under 62kg final. McNeil also lost to a representative of India, 9-2 against Bajrang Punia, at -65 kg.

Taylor meanwhile defeated Kenya’s Sophia Omutichio Ayieta 4-0 in the under 57kg bronze medal match.
Canada is third in the medal standings with 17 gold, 22 silver and 23 bronze, behind Australia (51-42-39) and England (42-44-32).
