Common Front unions in the public sector sign their collective agreements in early June

Common Front public sector unions will finally sign their collective agreements these days, beginning the process that will allow their members to eventually receive long-awaited salary increases and retroactivity payments.

Even if the four members of the Common Front — Confederation of National Unions (CSN), Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), Alliance of Professional and Technical Personnel in Health and Social Services (APTS) and Federation of Quebec Workers (FTQ) — had ratified the agreements in principle, the parties then had to ensure that the texts actually corresponded to what had been agreed at the negotiation tables.

It took about three and a half months since everything was officially approved, which is not an unusual time frame. However, several union members were getting impatient and let their respective unions know.

The signing dates differ slightly from one federation or large union to another, in health and education. There are also certain deadlines of 45, 60 or 90 days after signing for certain payments.

The Federation of Health and Social Services, affiliated with the CSN, will sign by the end of the week, for example. And her collective agreement will come into force on June 16, she said Thursday.

The Alliance of Professional and Technical Personnel in Health and Social Services (APTS) will sign its agreement this Thursday. And it will come into force on June 16, she said.
