Comics | Riad Sattouf receives the Angoulême Grand Prix

Cartoonist and director Riad Sattouf received the Grand Prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, an award given to him to highlight his entire career.


This award, the most prestigious in the world of French-language comics, is given to him when the sixth and final volume of his popular series The Arab of the future has just been published in Quebec.

The author, who was born in Paris, but who grew up in Libya, Syria and Brittany, has sold more than 3.5 million copies of the first five volumes of this series which recounts his childhood and adolescence.

Last year, it was Quebecer Julie Doucet who won this honor awarded by the Angoulême International Comics Festival.

The 50e edition of the event is held from January 26 to 29.
