ComediHa!, one of the major players in comedy in Quebec, announced Wednesday that it had acquired Productions Martin Leclerc, while ensuring that the purchased company would remain an “independent and autonomous entity”.
“We have faced many challenges over the past ten years and we are nourished by a sacred fire that cannot be denied. Our future appears brighter than ever,” said Martin Leclerc. His company, which was created ten years ago, represents, among others, the actress Guylaine Tremblay and the singer Daniel Lavoie.
Mr. Leclerc will, however, remain the general director of the company acquired by ComediHa!. The transaction announced Wednesday will take effect in a few weeks.
“This is a natural outcome between two companies concerned with the common good of artists and artisans,” argued Martin Leclerc.
Since 2021, his company has collaborated with ComediHa! to produce works such as plays Symphorian And Me and the other.
For its part, ComediHa! stressed that the acquisition announced Wednesday was part of its strategic plan aimed at diversifying the creation, production and distribution of its content. This giant of humor organizes each year in August the “largest French-speaking humor festival in the world”, ComediHa! Fest-Quebec.
