Comedian Roger Giguère is dead

Roger Giguère, actor, puppeteer and animator known mainly for his puppet of Monsieur Tranquille in the children’s series Patof traveldied on the night of Saturday to Sunday, according to TVA Nouvelles.

The one who was also a noisemaker and comedian had a lung disease. He died at the age of 77.

Born in 1944, Roger Giguère began his career as a sound designer, before embarking on television. He was a puppeteer for several Télé-Métropole programs in the 1960s and 1970s, notably The Cabin at Midas. For a few years, he was the popular Monsieur Tranquille in the series Patof Travel then on his own show.

In the late 1970s he hosted the show The Tanners, alongside Shirley Théroux and Pierre Marcotte. Roger Giguère also had a career on the stage.
