Coluche’s mural questions motorists in Avignon

For the past few days, motorists who have been using the Doctor Pons tourist route have not been able to miss it. In the middle of the presidential election, a giant graph representing Coluche, finger raised and tricolor scarf around the neck, welcomes in its own way the inhabitants and tourists who come to Avignon. A painting that we owe to an artist who is not at his first attempt in Avignon. The spray paint representation of Donald Trump getting ready to greet the invaders was him. Françis Lalanne represented in a yellow vest and Gaulish helmet on his head was him too….. just like Jean-Michel Blanquer with a dunce cap or even Professor Raoult forming with his hands the acronym of rapper Jul. For some years, the artist Lekto who specializes in frescoes with political messages seems to have made the Italian car park his favorite playground and a concrete block his favorite canvas.

“It’s nothing shocking”

The latest therefore represents Coluche during the presidential campaign of 1981. If the portrait is unanimously praised, the slogan, on the other hand, leaves passersby perplexed. The “to put them in the ass” inscribed above the portrait is subject to interpretation. Some see it as a “condemnation of the political world as a whole“, on the other “a call to voters to go vote and block the national rally”. Still, this painting produced on April 10, the day of the first round of the election is obviously not a coincidence. And if we find on the social networks some photos of the artist in full work, his face is always hidden from him, but his work clearly visible.
