Colorado Avalanche | Nathan MacKinnon will be in the game against the Maple Leafs

(Denver) Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon will return to action Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

His name was activated from the injured list a few hours before the meeting.

MacKinnon has missed the Avalanche’s last 11 games with an upper body injury. He was injured in the first period of a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 5.

His 26 assists at the time of the injury tied him for first in the league. He also scored eight goals.

The 27-year-old signed an eight-year contract extension in August after helping the Avalanche win their third Stanley Cup in club history.

The Avalanche, who have been plagued by multiple injuries, remain without forwards Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Darren Helm and Martin Kaut, as well as defensemen Bowen Byram and Josh Manson. Goaltender Pavel Francouz has also missed his team’s last two games with an upper body injury.
