(Bogotá) Nearly “500 members” of a teachers’ union tried Tuesday to invest the Colombian Capitol to demand improvements to the health system, announced the security secretariat of Bogota.
Men and women dressed in red ponchos tried to “enter the premises of the Congress of the Republic”, explains a report seen by AFP.
The demonstrators managed to progress to the last security filter before being stopped by law enforcement, according to videos from local media.
Congress gathered on Tuesday for an extraordinary session around the reforms of President Gustavo Petro’s leftist government, including the reduction of the participation of private intermediaries in the health system.
