Colombia | A new air gateway to South America

On March 31, the airline Avianca inaugurated the very first flight of a new direct route linking Montreal-Trudeau and El Dorado international airport in Bogotá, Colombia.

This service, Avianca’s first in Quebec, will be offered at the rate of four flights per week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Dorval. Departures will take place at 2:20 p.m. for arrival in Bogotá at 10:05 p.m. Flights will be on board Airbus A320 with a capacity of 180 people.

“With this flight, passengers arriving from Montreal will have access to the vast network of international destinations served by Aviancia in South America,” explained to The Press Ronaldo Damas, Avianca Sales Director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

In total, the airline connects the Colombian capital to around fifteen major South American cities, from Buenos Aires to Lima via La Paz and São Paulo. Aviancia, the second oldest airline on the planet after KLM, also offers domestic flights to various Colombian destinations such as Medellín, Cali or Cartagena.

The company also announced that it would offer a seasonal connection between Montreal and the capital of El Salvador, San Salvador, starting at the beginning of June. “All of Central America will open up for Montreal passengers,” added Mr. Damas. For now, this connection will be offered between the beginning of June and the beginning of September, as well as in December and January.

“For an international airport like ours, this is good news,” declared Yves Beauchamp, president and CEO of ADM, in a press release. Especially since this route offers arrivals and departures at less busy times of the day, which is in perfect harmony with ADM’s development approaches for its air service. »
