the Taurus I had been immobilized since August 29 in Buenaventura, in the southwest of the country, for fishing in a protected area of Bahía Solano, in the neighboring department of Chocó.
“29 people have been evacuated,” Buenaventura Coast Guard Commander Juan David Rendon Zapata said.
Two of the occupants were taken to hospital, authorities said. The others made their way to a military installation.
The naval force has also activated a contingency plan to prevent water contamination from the fuel spill.
