An 18-year-old young man lost his life after his vehicle was hit by a drunk driver of a truck on Saturday evening in Montérégie.
The tragedy occurred Saturday evening around 11:30 p.m. on Highway 20 in the Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot sector.
According to initial information, the driver of a “pick-up style” truck was traveling in the opposite direction on the highway and crashed into a vehicle, where five people were inside.
The driver and three passengers were transported to a hospital for injuries that would not put their lives in danger, said Sergeant Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The driver of the truck, who was not injured, was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol. The 24-year-old will be interviewed by investigators and is expected to appear on Sunday.
