“Collioure is the most beautiful place in the world”

On January 25, Mathieu Madénian will be on stage at the Palais des Congrès in Perpignan to play his “Family show”.

This is an opportunity to find the actor in his favorite city, Collioure, where he lives between two scenes and two shoots and where he has created a comedy festival which will take place this year on July 30 and 31. “When I was a teenager, that’s where we took the girls to the restaurant and today I live there. For me, it’s the most beautiful place in the world”.

Mathieu Madénian makes us discover his Collioure and we have prepared some surprises for him. Esaïe Dahmane, communication manager at the town hall, opens the doors to an inaccessible place: the bell tower of Collioure! We climb the steps of the wooden staircase to discover at the top, the bells of the church and a breathtaking view, listen!

Along the way, we pass by rue Bellevue to discover a public bench that has survived the passage of time and where Mathieu likes to rest sheltered from the wind and the world. He talks about his childhood in Saleilles and his love of the Catalan country.

At 14, rue de la Fraternité we stop in the art gallery of Max Rovira, painter who exhibits his works but also those of his daughter Pitu. “She passed me today I am very proud of her career”. A family of artists noticed by Mathieu Madénian who often visits this gallery and that of Kiko a few streets down, listen!

To finish the walk, go to the Petites Halles de Collioure, rue de la République where Christophe welcomes us to this tapas bar which also has a grocery store, wine cellar and restaurant. This is where Julio Leone awaits us with his guitar for a blind test as he does every morning on France Bleu Roussillon. A special Mathieu Madénian blind test. Will he be able to recognize La mama in Catalan? A magical moment, listen!
