College girl narrowly escapes kidnapping attempt

A schoolgirl from the Landes was the victim of an attempted kidnapping on Tuesday, May 2, in front of the Saint-Médard elementary school in Mont-de-Marsan. According to information from France Bleu Gascogne, it was a couple and their dog who put the suspect on the run.

Shortly after 3 p.m. last Tuesday, the CPs and CE1s of the Saint-Médard elementary school in Mont-de-Marsan are in the middle of recreation, some 120 children who play under the supervision of their teachers. Opposite are a parking lot and the water tower, where the attempted kidnapping took place. According to several witnesses, a man shouts and makes big gestures, while pulling behind him a teenager. A white van is not far away, its trunk is open.

Reinforced police presence around schools

A couple of parents walking their dog then arrives. Seeing the scene, the dog is released and puts the man to flight. The latter rushes off at the wheel of his van, trunk still open. The witnesses then see the young girl remove a tape that she had on her mouth. One of the children at recess recognizes his sister. The victim was returning from Cel le Gaucher college, which is a few hundred meters away.

According to information from France Bleu Gascogne, an investigation has been opened for attempted kidnapping of a minor. The police presence is also reinforced around Mons schools, explains the town hall of Mont-de-Marsan.
