Representatives of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), section 687, from the Montreal and Quebec units have reached agreements in principle with TVA Group regarding the renewal of two collective agreements.
The news was announced on Saturday by the TVA group.
According to the management side, the agreement should allow it to adapt to the difficult media context while ensuring the quality of journalistic coverage of the group’s media and maintaining good working conditions.
The agreements must still be submitted to a vote by the members of the two union units concerned.
In its press release, TVA Group said that neither it nor the Canadian Union of Public Employees will make any comments or grant any interviews until the ratification process is completed.
The negotiations, which began in December, focused on the new collective agreements, but also on the plan to reduce operating costs announced on November 2 by TVA and notably involving reducing its total workforce by 31%, or 547 employees.
TVA Group revealed on the same day a cumulative deficit of nearly $13 million for its Television broadcasting sector. In comparison, it was $1.6 million a year earlier.
