Cold wave | The Quebec Carnival postpones its opening to Saturday

(Québec) The Carnaval de Québec postpones its opening for one day due to the extreme cold conditions expected for Friday.

The organization says that activities will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the three main sites. The “Electro Frette” evening which was to be held on Friday has been moved to Sunday at 7 p.m.

The Quebec Carnival said on Thursday that it had decided to postpone it for one day for “the safety of carnival-goers”, but also of the field teams “who would be exposed to dangerous cold temperatures”.

The organization said it was convinced of making the right decision “to avoid frostbite and injuries”.

“At Carnival, how we like to say that we are stronger than the fret… but smarter than the extreme cold! “said the director general of the Carnaval de Québec, Marie-Ève Jacob, in a press release.

The Limoilou night parade will take place as planned on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. followed by the post-parade. The “Franco Videotron” evening featuring Ariane Moffatt and Alfa Rococo will also be held according to the original schedule, Saturday at 8 p.m.

The Quebec Carnival continues until February 12.
