In the midst of a very eventful radio season, Cogeco Media has just dismissed its president, Caroline Paquet. The Duty learned that Martin Spalding, a former Bell Media employee, will succeed him.
Caroline Paquet, who was previously at Videotron, was appointed in 2021 as president of Cogeco Media, which owns 98.5 FM, CKOI and the Rythme network, among others. During hearings before the CRTC in the fall, she made no secret of the company’s financial difficulties. When talking about the drop in advertising revenues, Ms. Paquet even mentioned possible station closures.
Martin Spalding, his successor, headed the radio stations of Bell Media, Cogeco’s main competitor, from 2013 to 2021.
