Two people were arrested last week on suspicion of international cocaine trafficking fueled by mules from Brazil, franceinfo learned on Tuesday, August 13, from a source close to the case.
After several months of work, investigators from the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police service witnessed the handing over of a bag between two men in a hotel in central Paris. One of the two individuals, Nigerian, is suspected of being the instigator, while the other, German, arrived from São Paulo in Brazil.
The police arrested the two men later, including the alleged instigator, while he was on his way back to the Rouen region where he lives. In the bag, they discovered an 80m-long climbing rope. When they cut it, investigators found four kilos of cocaine hidden inside. During a search, investigators then got their hands on seven more kilos of cocaine. At the end of their police custody, the two suspects were charged and placed in pre-trial detention on Saturday 10 August, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said.
