(Los Angeles) Reggaeton star Bad Bunny, K-pop group Blackpink, and Belgian singer Angèle will be among the artists performing at the 2023 edition of the famous Coachella festival in California, its organizers announced on Tuesday .
After her “Nonante-Cinq Tour”, Angèle will perform for the first time in her career on the stage of the mythical festival which takes place over two weekends in the middle of the desert.
The festival will take place over two three-day weekends, April 14-16 and 21-23.
The 2023 edition promises to be historic, with Puerto Rican Bad Bunny – the most listened to singer and rapper in the world – as the first Spanish-speaking and Latino artist to headline the event.
The South Koreans of Blackpink are also the first Asian group to appear among the star artists of the festival.
Like Bad Bunny, these global K-pop stars debuted at the Coachella festival in 2019.
R&B singer Frank Ocean was originally slated to headline the 2020 edition, which organizers postponed and then eventually scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rapper who hasn’t released an album since Blonde hair in 2016, is expected to present a new work at the festival.
The Spanish phenomenon Rosalia, the Icelandic Björk and the Nigerian Burna Boy will also be there.
The English from Gorillaz will also perform, as will the American band Blondie, and the indie rock band Boygenius, made up of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.
Domi and JD Beck, the rising jazz duo made up of a French keyboardist and an American drummer, will also take the stage, a few months after being nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards, in the revelation of the year category.
After two editions disrupted by the pandemic, the festival and its crowds of spectators made their big comeback in 2022.
Organizers of Bonnaroo, a June festival in rural Tennessee, also unveiled their lineup on Tuesday, headlined by rapper Kendrick Lamar and rockers Foo Fighters.
