coach Walid Regragui, proud of his players after beating one of the best nations in the world

A stroke of luck ? A performance impossible to reproduce? Critics were rife a few hours after Morocco’s elimination in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar against France. Indeed, for many, Walid Regragui’s men had certainly shown a good game, but were not able to do so on continuity and compete with the greatest nations in the world. Lack of luck for the detractors, Sofiane Boufal, Hakim Ziyech, or even Achraf Hakimi have proven the opposite. The Atlas Lions have taken over… Brazil!

Morocco indeed faced the Seleçao this Saturday, March 25 in a friendly match in Tangier. Walid Regragui’s men opened the scoring thanks to a goal from Ex-Angevin, Sofiane Boufal, before Casemiro equalized. Abdelhamid Sabiri finally sealed the fate of the match with his goal scored in the 79th minute. Admittedly, on the Brazilian side, Neymar and other stars were missing. Despite everything, it is clear that on paper, Brazil has quality players, who can bring down any nation. But apparently not Morocco.

Walid Regragui happy, Morocco beat Brazil in “full Ramadan”

The semi-finalist of the last World Cup proves, in fact, that their fine career in Qatar had nothing to do with luck. And Walid Regragui did not fail to remind him at the microphone of TF1just after the meeting. “With this audience, it transcends you. It’s historic, we had never beaten Brazil in our history, it’s done and then it confirms our World Cup a little, like what, it was no coincidence We have a great team but there is still work to do”he rejoiced.

A little later, at a press conference, the Moroccan coach recalled that his players were not 100%, however. Ramadan having started this Thursday March 23, the players of Morocco are in full fast but that did not however prevent them from bringing down one of the greatest nations in the world. “It’s a great victory and a great party. Thank you to the public. We beat Brazil, in the middle of Ramadan, after the Tarawih (daily Ramadan prayer: editor’s note). It’s crazy!”dropped the coach, delighted.
