For the second time in as many nights, 17-year-old hockey player Connor Bedard was the first to hit the target.

Will Cuylle, Brennan Othmann, Olen Zellweger, Logan Stankoven and Mason McTavish also flashed the red light for the Canadiens, unanswered.

Matej Kaslika finally put his team on the mark in the 15th minute of the second period, taking advantage of a puck left loose in the slot.

Mason McTavish ended Slovakia’s slim hopes, restoring a six-goal lead to Canada with his fourth point of the night just 36 seconds later.

Who else but Mason McTavish to propel Team Canada up 8-1. The Anaheim Ducks’ third overall pick in the 2021 auction also completed a natural hat trick.

Number 23 McTavish capped off a phenomenal night with a fourth goal and sixth point. He became only the seventh player in team history to score four goals in a single game.

CH hope Joshua Roy added insult to injury with a tenth success.

Zack Ostapchuk scored the 11th and final goal for the Canadiens with 21 seconds left in the game.

Juraj Slafkovsky and Filip Mesar, who belong to the Habs, are not in the Slovak workforce.

More details to come.
