The CMA CGM group is stepping up its development in the logistics branch of home delivery. The Marseille-based company, which is already one of the world leaders in maritime transport and logistics, announced on Monday the signing of a promise to acquire 51% of the capital of Colis Privé, sector of the Aix-based Hopps group, and specialist in the delivery of parcels to homes and relay points.

Colis Privé Group is the private leader in France in the delivery of parcels to individuals. Created in 2012, the company delivered in 2021 more than 70 million parcels throughout France thanks to a network of nearly 110 regional agencies. Colis Privé has also developed in Belgium, Luxembourg and Morocco and has announced the forthcoming launch of its activities in the Netherlands.
This acquisition also provides the possibility for CMA CGM to eventually strengthen its stake in the capital of Colis Privé Group. This operation is still subject to the approval of the competition authorities and to the consultation of the various employee representative bodies concerned.
The CMA CGM Group announces in a press release that it wishes to accelerate the development of Colis Privé, particularly internationally, “thanks to its worldwide presence and its technological and logistical know-how“.
If approved, this acquisition will enable CEVA Logistics, the logistics subsidiary of CMA CGM, to strengthen its e-commerce service offer and more particularly on last mile delivery.
This is not the CMA CGM Group’s first acquisition in the field of logistics. Rodolphe SaadeChairman and Chief Executive Officer of the group, said: “ The acquisition of a majority stake in Colis Privé is an important step in the development strategy of our logistics activity. This operation will allow us to offer end-to-end managed logistics solutions to our e-commerce customers for whom the last mile is a critical step.“
