Club World Cup 2025 | The final will be played in the suburbs of New York

The final of the 2025 Club World Cup will take place at MetLife Stadium in the suburbs of New York, which is due to host the World Cup final in 2026, FIFA announced on Saturday.

This new version of the competition will pit 32 of the best teams in the world against each other during a tournament organized from June 15 to July 13 in the United States.

In addition to MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford (New Jersey), the matches will be played in 10 other American cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle and Washington.

Orlando will host matches at two different venues, Camping World Stadium and Inter&Co Stadium.

The Club World Cup is an annual event that FIFA has organized continuously since 2005, after a first edition in 2000.

The International Federation of Association Football, its full name, has decided to carry out an overhaul from 2025, by increasing the format from 7 to 32 clubs.

The tournament will now only take place once every four years.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stressed on Saturday that this first edition of the new Club World Cup opened “a new era for club football”.

For the manager, this competition “will have a huge impact on the growth of club football and players around the world”, he explained on the sidelines of the Global Citizen Festival, a major music festival dedicated to the fight against extreme poverty.

The new version of the Club World Cup has attracted widespread criticism in recent months, with many fearing the consequences of extending an already overloaded calendar.

The draw for the eight groups of four teams will take place in December.

The participants in the Thirty of the Thirty-two Clubs are already known.

Europe will send the largest contingent with 12 representatives, followed by South America, with 6 teams.
