The prestigious restaurant Toqué! led by chef Normand Laprise will continue to serve its customers. Although the group recently announced the closure of the five addresses of Brasserie T!, the flagship will not cease its activities, confirmed to The Press Thursday, Sophie Dormeau, lawyer for the restaurant Toqué! and spouse of Normand Laprise.
Mme Dormeau even claims to be currently in negotiations for the renewal of its lease, with Ivanhoé Cambridge which manages the building where the restaurant is located, at Place Jean-Paul-Rioppelle.
“The restaurant Toqué! is not at all targeted, it is the breweries which have been made bankrupt”, insisted Mme Dormeau, who reacted to an article published in The Montreal Journal reporting that the group was in financial difficulties and owed 7.5 million to its suppliers.
Questioned about this amount, she also indicated that it was more of a debt of 5 million, including 3.5 million owed to the partners. It thereby ensures that all employees and small suppliers have been paid.
