Closing of businesses to non-vaccinated: mixed reactions

The government has decided to tighten the screws on the unvaccinated people who clog hospitals, Thursday, by announcing that the branches of the SAQ and the SQDC will require the vaccine passport from customers as of January 18.

Even if the decision is welcomed by several people, the reactions are not unanimous. While many see the decision as safe, others don’t believe it will change anything.

“There are a number of people like me who are going to go across the border to get their alcohol, that’s for sure!” suggested a man who was going to stock up for this restriction.

Other non-essential businesses and services may well join this growing list, such as sports stores and beauty salons.

“This is excellent news,” suggested Réjean Roy, owner of the Confidence Beauty Center. We will be able to protect our customers as well as our employees! ”

At sporting goods retailer Momo sports, this restriction means additional management.

“I hope that we will not get there … if we have to go through each customer one by one to ask them for their QR codes, already that we are short of employees, there will be one less person on the floor”, explained Michel Poisson, owner of Momo sports.

The government of Quebec assures that the third dose will eventually be necessary for the vaccination passport.
