Monday, November 1, the chefsState have an appointment in Glasgow (UK) for the COP26. For two weeks, climate issues will be at the center of the debates.
If the COP26 officially begins Sunday, October 31, the chefs ofState will not be present until the next day, so start discussions on the issue of climate issues. Alok Sharma, the president of COP26 called on everyone to act now to “protect our precious planet”.
The main objective of this COP26 is not to to go past the 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming. An objective already displayed during the COP21 in Paris in 2015. According to climatologists, this figure is the only one that would limit the most dramatic consequences linked to global warming. According to climatologist Jean Jouzel, 1.5 degrees of heating allows “conserve coral reefs, reduce extreme weather events and limit sea level rise”. For several days now, activists have been demonstrating, particularly in Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, in order to put pressure on the 200 world leaders who are expected in the Scottish city. The first speeches by the heads ofStates are expected on Monday, November 1, with in particular the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, who should arrive in the afternoon.
