(Quebec) Prime Minister François Legault will not represent Quebec at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP28, which will be held in Dubai starting at the end of November.
This is what The Canadian Press learned on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister’s spokesperson, Ewan Sauves, cited the “uncertainty” reigning in the Middle East.
The COP is a major summit in which many Quebec prime ministers have participated before him, but this time, Mr. Legault is skipping his turn and it will instead be the Minister of the Economy and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, as well as his colleague in the Environment, Benoit Charette, who will make up the Quebec delegation.
In an email, Mr. Legault’s press secretary explained that “such a trip proves too risky at this stage” for the Prime Minister.
