The “BFM politique” program, broadcast on Sunday October 22, was interrupted twice by an activist claiming to be from the environmentalist collective Dernier Rénovation. The man burst onto the set about five minutes after the start of an interview with Marion Maréchal, head of the Reconquest list in the European elections.

According to a photo published on Twitter by the journalist from Parisian Olivier Beaumont, who also spoke on set, the activist then sat on the presenters’ table, wearing a white t-shirt bearing the inscription, in English, “We have 521 days left” (“We have 521 days left”).

This slogan refers to the countdown put forward by activists from the environmental collective, known for carrying out civil disobedience actions in public spaces to warn of the climate emergency and in particular to demand a thermal renovation plan for buildings. In June 2022, the group launched the call for 1,028 days to act”, based on the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which calculated that it needed to cap greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 to preserve a world “livable”.

A cover, without audience

The antenna was cut off immediately, and the broadcast resumed a few minutes later, before being interrupted again by a man shouting “We have the power.”

“Certain individuals in the audience had chosen to interrupt this broadcast,” deplored, after this forced break, the presenter Benjamin Duhamel, specifying that“there is no longer an audience” From now on.
