After the various episodes of extreme heat, the heat wave and the drought, summer has been particularly intense from a climate point of view. “Everyone has seen the images of dried up rivers, of fires on an unprecedented scale. Well, it was this summer that 21% of French people say they first became aware of the climate emergency.“, reports journalist Peggy Mauger, live on the set of 19/20, Friday August 26. A quarter of them are retired.
The climate is even the main source of concern for 86% of French people. 77% of respondents are even prepared to lower their heating to 19°C, and 62% to give up flying. “On the other hand, they are more divided on the idea of stopping eating meat, or giving up their car for their daily transport.“, explains the journalist. Thus, 32% of French people do not wish or cannot give it up.
