(Las Vegas) Cleveland Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti was voted the Most Outstanding Major League Leader on Tuesday after his youthful squad won the American League Central title despite a payroll modest 68 million US — the 27e among the 30 clubs of the Manfred circuit.

The Guardians went 92-70, even though their roster was made up of 17 rookies. The Guardians, the youngest team to sneak into the playoffs, lost in five games to the New York Yankees in a series of sections.
Antonetti, 47, handled baseball operations for the Cleveland franchise as general manager from 2011 to 2015, before being named president of baseball operations in October 2015.
Antonetti began his major league career as an intern with the defunct Montreal Expos in 1997, before being named director of player development in November of that year. He joined the Cleveland squad in 1999, and became assistant general manager three years later.
Atlanta Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos finished second in the ballot for the Major Leagues’ Most Outstanding Executive Award, ahead of Seattle Mariners Jerry Dipoto in third.
This title was announced on the first day of the annual meeting of Major League Baseball’s general managers.
