(Cleveland) Cleveland Browns linebacker and captain Anthony Walker Jr.’s season is over with a torn quadriceps he suffered Thursday night in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The loss of Walker Jr. is significant for the Browns. He is one of the most popular and dynamic players on the team, as well as the one responsible for calling plays on defense.
Walker was injured while trying to knock down a veiled pass. His leg uncharacteristically bent under him as he was blocked by Steelers lineman Chukwuma Okorafor, who then crushed him as he lay face down on the ground.
Walker left FirstEnergy Stadium on crutches. He agreed to a new deal in March to play a second season with the Browns.
Jacob Phillips replaced Walker Jr. against the Steelers, and he will likely have to perform the same duties as him. Phillips had a quarterback sack and knocked down a pass in the fourth quarter, allowing the Browns (2-1) to hang on to win 29-17.
