ASM Clermont is no longer linked to Mohamed Haouas. The Auvergne club announced on Saturday July 1 that it was no longer engaged with the pillar of the XV of France sentenced to nine months in prison on Friday for “aggravated violence”, committed almost ten years ago, conviction for which his lawyer appealed.

There is no longer a commitment between the Montpellier right pillar and the Clermont club“, adds without further details the press release, which nevertheless recalls the position of the club in this affair: “Our players, beyond who they are on the pitch, have a duty to adopt exemplary behavior in all circumstances., and in particular to be aware, as players in high-level rugby, of the impact of their image, their gestures or their words, particularly vis-à-vis the public and the media. Those who do not respect these rules have no place at ASM Clermont Auvergne.

At the end of May, the former Montpellier player had already received a one-year sentence for “domestic violence”. The pillar had signed a three-year contract in favor of the ASM before these convictions. His future club then turned to the industrial tribunal to suspend this employment contract, in vain since it had been dismissed on Monday. The club had 15 days to appeal. He finally did not need it after this agreement found directly with the international tricolor.

On June 7, the XV of France coach Fabien Galthié announced that Mohamed Haouas would not be selected for the World Cup this fall. The previous week, the French Federation (FFR) had already considered that the player’s actions were “incompatible” with other selections in the France team.
