Clément Giraud and Erik Nigon crossed the finish line

It was 9 hrs 53 mins and 29 seconds on Monday morning in Martinique (14 hrs 53 minutes and 29 seconds, metropolitan time), when the boat “Compagnie du Lit – Jiliti” crossed the finish line of the 15th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre, seventeenth in the Imoca category.

The Clément Giraud – Erik Nigon duo will therefore have taken 22 days, 1 hour, 26 minutes and 29 seconds precisely to cover some 6,000 miles of the couse, at an average speed of nearly 12 knots.

It’s a great adventure that ends for the two skippers and friends. Toulonnais Clément Giraud had been able to count on his friend two years ago when Clément Giraud’s boat caught fire six days before departure of the Transat Jacques Vabre. A few days later, Erik Nigon lent him his boat for the Vendée Globe. The season of Clément Giraud is saved thanks to him, he manages to complete the tour of the world. This time, the two men finish a race together.
