The minister delegate in charge of transport reacted on France 2 to the decision of the Council of State, which reinstated the obligation of technical control for two-wheelers.

The schedule is not yet fixed. “It will most likely be necessary to set up a technical control”said Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate for Transport, Tuesday, November 1 in the “4V” on France 2. The Council of State announced Monday to reinstate the technical control two-wheelers. This summer, the government repealed the decree of August 9, 2021 which introduced the obligation to carry out a technical inspection on all two-wheelers over 125 cm3 from the start of 2023.

The Minister announced the holding of a “consultation (…) because it is something important”. “We will hold a consultation from the weekend with an association of bikers and road safety associations”he added. There are terms, regularity, cost, standards, all of this can be discussed, there is significant room for maneuver left to the government by the European rule. According to Clément Beaune, a “calendar remains to be agreed and defined” but one “immediate application” is excluded.
