In love for almost ten years, Vincent Lindon and Claude Chirac had a passionate relationship during the 1980s. On May 13, 2022, the show Secret Archives evokes (under the confidences of Line Renaud) their idyll which had however not started under the best auspices since Jacques Chirac had not, at the start, appreciated this new son-in-law whom he considered more like a mountebank. Invited to a party with the former President of the Republic (who was at the time mayor of Paris) in their private apartment at the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, Vincent Lindon had found himself in a very embarrassing situation, almost in underpants in front of his future father-in-law… Jacques Chirac.
Dressed in pants far too big for him, Claude Chirac (who was still only a friend for the actor) had kindly offered to lend him a belt from his dad to prevent him from finding himself. the pants on the knees. By chance, Jacques Chirac then came face to face with the actor, who was in his room with his daughter, his pants slightly ajar.
Interviewed by Laurent Delahousse on the show One day, one destiny on France 2, Claude Chirac remembered this unforgettable but terribly embarrassing moment. “I told him: ‘it doesn’t matter, we’ll go get a belt from my father’s closet’ (…) at that time, my father arrived. He found Vincent in his closet, admittedly with his daughter, but he was a stranger to him, with his pants more or less on and trying to fiddle with his belts!“
Shortly after this scabrous episode, Vincent Lindon was again invited by the Chirac family to their Corrèze castle in Bity (Vincent Lindon and Claude Chirac were part of the same group of friends at the time). Antoine and Sylvain, Vincent Lindon’s brothers, then revealed another hilarious anecdote about the budding romantic relationship between their brother and Claude Chirac: “He had gone to Claude’s room but it was not planned by the parents… he had his room (…) 7 a.m. arrives Jacques Chirac, who pulls him out of bed quite violently“.”bare ass“, Vincent Lindon had just had time to get dressed and had been fired illico from the family home and then sent back to the station in the direction of Paris. We were not joking with good manners in the Chirac family!
