“It is rare to meet a person as devoted, competent and committed to his community as Mr. Trudel, and the OSL would like to highlight his professionalism and his love for music, which has contributed to raising the reputation of the Orchestra to highest peaks”, declared Claude Choinière, chairman of the board of directors of the Orchester symphonique de Laval (OSL) in a press release.

Alain Trudel began his career as a solo trombonist at the age of 18 with the Orchester symphonique de Montréal and was the first Canadian to be named an “international Yamaha artist”. He has been invited to play by orchestras all over the world and has conducted throughout Canada, but also in the United Kingdom, the United States, South America and Asia.

He remains Music Director of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra in Ohio, Principal Youth and Family Conductor of the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra.

Before replacing Alain Trudel at the head of the OSL, its management wishes to invite several conductors to conduct concerts and form a recruitment committee which will take the time “to discover new talent” in search of “the best synergy between conductors and musicians.

The OSL’s 2022-2023 season will be unveiled shortly. The whole announces an “eclectic” season, offering a fine balance between modernity and tradition.
