About twenty CRS were injured on Thursday, December 30, in Calais, following clashes between police officers and migrants. Present on site, journalist Barbara Six provides an update on the event for the JT from 20 hours.
“It was during the evacuation [d’un] wasteland that the tension went up a notch. Here, 200 people live by the railroad tracks “, says journalist Barbara Six, in duplex from Calais (Pas-de-Calais) Thursday, December 30. According to associations, “it is by wanting to go and recover their belongings taken by the police that they literally assaulted the police”, she reports.
The police evoke a “scene of chaos”. “They responded with tear gas”, continues the journalist. The death toll stands at around twenty injured police officers, including one person suffering from a broken tibia. Five migrants would also be injured, according to associations. Local residents are “exasperated, shocked by the scene they experienced this morning”, concludes Barbara Six.
