Éric Duhaime will lose his only MP: the defector Claire Samson does not intend to run under the banner of the Conservative Party of Quebec in the next elections.

After having left the doubts when it came time to switch from the CAQ to the PCQ, last June, MP Claire Samson finally decided to retire.
Aged 66, she cites in particular her health problems of recent years to explain her choice to put aside a new election. Mme Samson intends, however, to campaign in support of the PCQ.
The former manager of the television world claims to have “several retirement plans”. “I learned the language of the deaf many years ago. I would like to update to volunteer as an interpreter with the deaf, ”she says, explaining that she learned this language in the past“ out of sheer curiosity ”.
Mme Samson is also considering a return to school for his retirement, without focusing on a specific area. “I have eight months to think about it,” she says.
Not bitter
The member for Iberville assures us that she has not retained any bitterness over her expulsion from the CAQ following a donation of $ 100 to the PCQ.
At the same time, however, she said she was happy to have left the training. “I wouldn’t have wanted to be here today,” she said. The deputies who are there do not have much freedom of speech. ”
Claire Samson did not hide her disappointment at having been dismissed during the formation of the Council of Ministers, after the CAQ victory in 2018.
But she assures us that her donation to the PCQ was not ill-intentioned. “It wasn’t to take revenge on the CAQ,” she explains. I’m not suicidal by nature either. ”
“We were heading towards the crowning of the CAQ, I found that we needed more opposition,” says Mme Samson, adding that the donation was perfectly legal.
The party in power, for its part, had affirmed that it could not “tolerate that a member of our caucus financially supports another political formation which challenges and rejects the science and the health measures in place”.
Today, Claire Samson says she is “very comfortable” with the positions of her new party.
